A 23-year-old skateboarder, Gilbert Abbott of Elysburg, was fatally struck by a tanker truck at the intersection of Route 487 and Spruce Street in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday night.
Northumberland County Coroner James Kelley identified the victim as Gilbert Abbott. According to Ralpho Township police, Abbott was riding his skateboard when he exited Spruce Street and entered the path of a westbound tanker truck on West Valley Avenue.
The tanker truck was driven by 54-year-old Ramon DeJesus of Shamokin. No information is available regarding potential charges or the driver’s condition following the incident.
